The next Not Mom Summit has been rescheduled to Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7, 2017. These Summits bring together “women without children regardless of cause,” and give voice to the many roads that lead women not to become mothers. I invite you to be part of it! A first-ever conference is happening this Friday and Saturday: The Not Mom Summit. Spearheaded by Karen Malone Wright who runs the site The Not Mom, it is the first time women without children by choice, chance or circumstance will gather for presentations, discussions, and connection. I am excited to be part of it!
Last weekend on August 1st marked the third year of celebrating International Childfree Day and awarding the Childfree Man and Woman of the Year. How did it start? While running my blog, La Vie Childfree (which now lives here) , learning of an organization called the National Alliance for Optional Parenthood inspired the idea.
As many of you may know, my book, Families of Two, Interviews with Happily Married Couples Without Children by Choice, came out in 2000 and received international attention. This coupled with my blog, La Vie Childfree (which now lives here in my childfree writings library) and media presence since then, I’ve become a leading voice on the childfree choice. While running La Vie Childfree, I learned of an organization that existed in the 70s-early 80s-the National Alliance for Optional Parenthood. This gave me the idea to create August 1 as International Childfree Day. The back story:
